Baby Fishes

Baby Fishes

At Little Fishes we love babies and have designed a baby program for babies to explore and discover the delights of playing in water. The half hour classes focus on water confidence as well as water safety skills. Safe entry and exits into the water, floating and recoveries, kicking, breathing and submerging readiness are all taught in an enjoyable environment.

Baby swimming strengthens the bond between child and parent and can aid in muscle growth, balance and mental development. children gain confidence in and out of the water and social skills with other children and adults are heightened. These classes are gentle and are in no way distressing to the child. Come, sing and play games with us and have lots of fun.

This transition class is sometimes a little scary so we only have 3 children per class, and mum and dad can sit on the side of the pool watching and giving plenty of support and encouragement. Toddler level is all about learning to be in the ” big pool” without mum and dad.

It’s a gentle learning experience for children to learn about water safety, taking turns and getting confident in how their body works in water at this age. This transition is usually fairly smooth and teaches children to take instruction from someone other than their parents, while giving them the opportunity to learn from their peers and develop social skills.

  • Transition class (going from a class with a parent to just an instructor).
  • 2.5 – 3 years.
  • 30 minute class.
  • Ratio of 3:1 children to teacher

We allow parents to get in the water if it is absolutely necessary but we try to encourage them to stay out if they can. We tell parents to talk to their children for about 3 weeks before they turn 2.5 years about going up to the “big girls/boys” so they are a familiar with what is going to happen. Get the parents to watch a class with their little one which has no parents in it.

When children progress from Toddler Fish they move onto Preschool Fish
